Julie Mochan Introduces Open Windows Investing by TPFG podcast:

Hello podcast listeners in the land of podcasts.

Hello, financial professional, looking for a podcast that can help you. Today's your lucky day. This is Open Windows. My name is Julie Mochan.
Open Windows is a podcast created especially for financial professionals, looking for opportunity that they may or may not have known existed before.

This episode and every episode hereafter will be brought to you by The Pacific Financial Group, Inc. a company that was founded. On helping financial advisors help their clients who are participants of employer sponsored retirement plans.

We have a great solution for you, so therefore you have a great solution for them.

So, if you're currently not using self-directed brokerage accounts to manage client assets, typically, and you know this, you have to wait for a client to have a life-changing event. Like changing a job, going to another job, or, actually retiring so that you can manage their assets in their 401k, 403b or 457 account. Which is kind of too late, right?

You should be able to help them early on, which is what we're going to talk about. It's too late the day they're retiring to say hey, I'm going to roll this into an IRA now, now we're going to manage it like we wanted to 20 years ago it's not too late, but it's way late.

And then you would roll those assets into an individual retirement account, otherwise known as an IRA, obviously, and then manage them in accordance with the overall financial plan that you've had for them all along.

And how crazy is it that? Arguably, the biggest piece of their portfolio (aside from their home at times) is sitting in their group retirement account that you've not had the ability to give them advice on. And if you do, you take on fiduciary responsibility.

Also, your clients automatically ask you to because it's part of their overall plan. How crazy is it that you must wait until they retire to roll it over and then you can manage it? It's just ridiculous.
Anyway, there is, a solution for you and your clients and The Pacific Financial Group has it for you.
I am excited to be able to host this podcast as it is going to be filled with interviews, expert advice, successful advisor stories, best practices, straight up step-by-step instructions on how to do this on what not to do.

We'll hear from some of the best strategists in the industry. It's pretty exciting. I'm psyched. So I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this introduction because the bottom line is. You need to understand how self-directed brokerage accounts work and where the opportunity lies and how to take advantage of the opportunity while you're helping clients and prospects get to retirement in good financial shape. Not waiting until the last minute for a rollover. That's not our business. You don't want that to be your business either. Your business is taking care of business now, not at rollover time.

I'm going to give you one action item before you listen to the next episode, and that is in your current book of business. Start to pull data on your clients that are not retired. You know, those people that are still working or just started working for any corporation, hospital, university, state and local municipalities; create a list from the data that you pull. It's going to make it easier for you to understand just where the opportunity lies. That's just in your current book of business. Like not doing any sort of prospecting anywhere else, not getting one referral, just looking inside. Which is obviously the easiest place to start. So go ahead and take some time and do that.

Oh, and by the way, I didn't mention this, but you will be compensated for actually doing your job taking care of your clients. Which is icing on the cake. So until next time, remember that you can work smarter by Opening a Window.

This is Julie Mochan from Open Windows signing off....
